ASAP hammers it up for Habitat for Humanity home building eventOn a hot sunny Saturday September 12, 2009, members of The Association of South Asian Professionals of BC (ASAP) lent a hand to Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver, building homes in Burnaby, BC for low-income families. Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver is a non-profit organization working in the Lower Mainland to build affordable housing for sale to low-income families. Through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity works with partner families to build simple, decent housing.
“There is an urgent need in the community for decent and affordable housing. We are very pleased that our members were given the opportunity by Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver to help fulfil this need by supplying labour for this project. It was a very rewarding experience knowing that our efforts would help provide housing for low income families. It was also a lot of fun for our members to work together as a team to help fulfill the vision of Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver. We are strong promoters of corporate responsibility and community involvement by our fellow professionals and encourage others to support Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver with labour and financial donations. ASAP has supported many charitable organizations and communities over the years and we are extremely proud to have provided financial support and labour to Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver.” Mr. Jindy Bhalla, President of ASAP.
